Kiosk Mode Setup
Turn any tablet or display into a branded self-service visitor check-in terminal.
What is Kiosk Mode?
Kiosk mode is a full-screen, visitor-facing interface designed for lobby tablets. Visitors can check in independently without staff assistance. After each check-in, the screen automatically resets for the next visitor.
Setting Up a Kiosk
Get a Tablet or Display
Any device with a modern browser works: iPad, Android tablet, or a touchscreen monitor. A 10-inch tablet is the most common setup.
Launch the Kiosk
There are two secure ways to launch and lock the kiosk to a specific location without entering staff credentials on the device:
- Secure Kiosk URL: Go to Locations in your dashboard, click on your location, copy the unique Kiosk URL, or scan the generated QR code on the tablet.
- Device Activation Code: Go to Locations in your dashboard, click Pair Device to generate a 6-character activation code. On the tablet, open
/kiosk/activateand enter the pairing code.
Enable Full-Screen Mode
For the best experience, enable the browser's full-screen mode (usually F11 on desktop, or "Add to Home Screen" on tablets). This hides the address bar for a clean, branded experience.
Kiosk Features
- Branded welcome screen: Shows your organization name, logo, and custom welcome message
- Self-service check-in form: Visitors enter their name, select a type, choose their host, and optionally take a photo
- QR scanner: Pre-registered visitors can scan their QR code for instant check-in
- Auto-reset: After each check-in, the screen resets to the welcome page
- Dark/light mode: Matches your organization's theme settings
Multi-Location Kiosks
Each branch or site has its own secure kiosk URL and pairing sequence. Visitors checking in on a location-scoped kiosk are automatically logged under that specific branch in your dashboard.
Managing Kiosk Devices
Once paired, devices are listed under their respective locations on the Locations page. Admins can:
- Monitor connection health via the Last Seen status
- Assign recognizable names to each kiosk device (e.g., "Main Lobby iPad")
- Revoke access to immediately disconnect a kiosk device, requiring a new pairing code to re-activate
